Genki Sushi in Shibuya: Fun, Fresh, Affordable Sushi

Sushi was one of my top cravings when it comes to food in Japan! After shopping and exploring Shibuya, we got hungry and randomly wondered around areas near the mall. To our surprise, we spotted Genki Sushi right after we walked into a small street. (If pictures are not too clear, it's because some were snapshots from my video)

The restaurant was a packed, but luckily wait was not long... about 10 min. This sushi place is pretty unique compared to the ones I have been to before. It's not your usual sushi boat style. Genki sushi have individual seats and a touchscreen menu for customers to order their food!! The amount of items in the menu amazed me. So many selections from appetizer, to special rolls, and to desserts!! It's sooooo cool!! Hey... it's because I never seen it before okay?

So many selections!

You can order max 3 items at a time

Water and tea will be within reach^^

Wasabi and ginger too

While you are sitting down, you will see many food pass by you to other customers. The sushi masters are actually in the kitchen (you won't see them) and they would put the sushi that they made on the plate. The food you ordered will stop right in front of you. So fun and amazing^^ I started with some appetizer and Darrin dove right into main course! Ahahhahah!!

Food will come out from the left. Cups are located above

My edamame!!

Miso soup with crab!

Push to send plate back to kitchen

See the picture above? When you sat down, I'm pretty sure you will notice 2 cute little buttons. They are actually buttons to push after you get your food. The button will light up and you will hear beeping sounds, meaning you have to take your food and send the plate back! Pretty cool huh?

Very big bowl of miso soup

2 big piece of crab O.O

Bowl of edamame

Now showing you some of the sushi! I don't really remember the names,

Darrin's favorite! He ate 3 plates of this O.O

Once you have ordered 1000 yen or more, a game of rock, paper, scissor appears. If you win the computer, you will get 10% off your entire bill!

Sushi in Japan is very afforable!! Total for 2 was just $20!

I think this is a great way to run a business because the customers do not have to wait for anyone to serve or attend to them. Water, tea, wasabi, ginger, utensils, etc are right within reach from your seat. Just remember that paying in Japan is different than in America. You have to take your receipt and pay at the cashier up front by the door you entered.

I highly recommend giving Genki Sushi a try! Genki sushi is very affordable and fun. Left with a full tummy^^
